I hope I’ve posted in the correct place and if this is TMI!

cut a long story short I’ve suffered with my stomach for coming to 10 years. Two operations as I had a tangled stomach and grumbling appendicitis. First operation failed due to how tangled everything was.

anyway, I’ve never been the same since.

fast forward to 2020 I began suffering with haemorrhoids, intense itching and minor bleeding. Had them handed a short while after and was successful.

last year they came back with one being thrombosed and I had awful bleeding, had to wear a sanitary towel and after applying cream it shrunk and disappeared.

anyway, for a long time now (unclear how long but has gotten more apparent)

move been very wet down below. If I’m honest I’m unsure if it’s coming from the front or the behind… (I’m swayed towards behind due to past problems)

I could go to the toilet, completely wipe so I’m dry and 10 mins later I’m wet. When I wipe again it’s all clear. No colour. I’ve even smelt it (I’m so sorry) and I can’t smell anything offensive. I still suffer with itching but have not had an external haemorrhoid since last year.

I know this isn’t normal, I’m aware of being uncomfortable daily now.
It’s not leaking through my clothes but my underwear is always damp and in between cheeks I’m wet.

I am going to phone the doctors tomorrow but I just wanted some advice from here first but I’m at a complete loss if this is normal or not?

thank you for reading.

Hi OP, very stressful time for you. What is an FLT result? I have experience with IBD but not sure what that is?

I think it's a FIT not FLT. This is a stool test which they use for bowel cancer. Although it's just blood in the stool which could be a number of things!

yodayoga1 · 07/04/2023 23:40

Thanks @IWineAndDontDine, I'd not heard of it. I'm all over the calpro tests but not FIT tests, that's scary. Sorry OP, keeping you in my thoughts. Do keep posting if it helps 😢

Hey all,

had tests done and got a positive FIt result back. literally bang on 10. Just straight referral, have a colonoscopy on the 17th.

trying not to freak out, but I’m a proper Debbie downer!!

Please don't worry. FIT shows there is hidden blood in the poops. This can be due to many many things. Polyps, haemorrhoids etc.

Sorry typo! It’s a FIT test which means faecal immunochemical test. And I think it measures blood in the stools.

Thank you for being really reassuring :)

I’m quite up and down at the moment but trying to keep positive.

as I do suffer from haemorrhoids it surely has to be them! (Fingers crossed)

i’m wondering if I’m the same as I am aware I do have haemorrhoids. (Had them banded in 2019) but they’ve come back. The mucus is a new symptom for me though!

Which was your treatment if you don’t mind me asking?

and thank you, I think those who have suffered with haemorrhoids are the only ones who truly understand how awful they can be.

I had this and it was internal piles (mucus and the blood). They injected them with something in the colonoscopy and it fixed them for a while (though they are starting to come back!).

Did you do a FIT test?

I didn't need to as there was so much blood every time I went to the loo so I got referred v quickly

I already (previously) had external thrombosed haemorrhoids so I had an inkling this is what they were but the doctor thought the amount of mucus/blood meant something else as it was horrific.

I was really worried about it!

You sound very very similar to me. I also had a thrombosed haemorrhoid.

how often did you get the mucus? Mine only seems to be after I’ve been to the toilet and I’ve wiped. A short while after I feel really went down there again.

OP posts:
Fibonacci13 · 11/04/2023 16:59

Yes v similar.

Just so you're aware, the guy who did the colonoscopy was not convinced that amount of mucus came from the piles. My colonoscopy was clear other than the piles but weirdly about a week beforehand, the mucus had stopped.

He said it could well have been something else like an infection or an irritated bowel post infection that caused it to be of that volume.

Either way it hasn't come back so far

Hey everyone!

prep was absolutely awful and when people said it was worse than the colonoscopy I honestly didn’t believe them. But my god… yes 100%
worse than the colonoscopy!

anyway!

all successful and bowel is completely healthy! (Haemorrhoids causing the blood)

Thank you all for the support!
