Blood in stools but normal colonoscopy and biopsies?

I have had a few episodes of blood in my stools. The most recent time was a month ago, I passed blood/bloody mucus every half an hour to an hour for 4 days.

I had a colonoscopy and biopsies taken and everything has come back normal. My bloods were all normal aside from low B12.

I have a follow-up appointment with an IBD nurse in a few months (I'm not sure why as IBD has now been ruled out due to my colonoscopy results).

Can it have just been a fluke or IBS?

Weirdly I had something v similar. Though they found some small bleeding piles I don't think they would account for all the mucus and blood I saw. Also had a clear colonoscopy. Doctor thought I might have had an infection that caused blood in the stools that had cleared up as it didn't come back.

(I did come back anaemic but they couldn't find any other issues)

It is not unusual to have them scratching their heads over rectal bleeding! I had a few episodes, but it was of the sinister (to me) kind, black tarry stools, feeling ill all that sort of jazz. I was very worried.

Colonoscopy clear, endoscopy clear. But they did find polyps in the bowel which they removed during the colonoscopy. The consultant said it may have been a ruptured polyp, but they really weren't sure in the end. So with a clear result I just got on with life and was very relieved I can tell you, and they don't want to see me again for a follow up colonoscopy for three years.
