Tongue Tie corrected as an adult

Looking for stories, hopefully positive, of adults discovering they have a tongue tie that's affecting them sufficiently to need treating

No but I'm trying to get my almost 3 year olds tongue tie cut and it's a nightmare. I've been passed back and forth from GP to health visitor and GP is struggling to find who to refer us to.

Even when I look into it privately it's either for babies or adults.

What do you want/need yours for?

Mum5net · 17/03/2023 11:51

Our dentist said it could be done by another dentist nearby and to book an nhs appointment in for our dentist to take a look and he'll direct us from there... however, that's going to be over a month away as the first appointment is May!

Its my 23 yr old who has the issue. Weighing up whether to book a private appointment with a maxiofacial consultant which is £200.

I've seen adverts for it by London dentists and its about £700... Also spoken to a physio and a speech therapist who haven't ever seen them in an adult.

Your poor little one. How are they affected?

I think it affects his speech he says so much stuff which clearly means something to him but doesn't sound like anything to us. He's been referred for speech therapy but that's a 40 week wait and I don't think that will help anyway.

How does it affect your son?

I've never heard of a dentist doing it.

Oh, that's such a long wait@MunchMonster
Try googling Frenectomy and children and dentist and it comes up.
Mine has incredible jaw pain and the physio they saw this week said they were 99% sure they had a tongue tie. Mine has had major jaw neck pain for about 12 years and diagnosed with chronic TMJ when 13. Just trying to see if this might be worth doing.
