Half a wax earplug stuck in ear canal - any tips?

So, I feel stupid about this. I use Boots "Muffles" wax earplugs, which are really, really effective, but...

Once a decade I end up with half an earplug stuck in my ear canal; i.e. it's not all come out. I've probably pushed it in further when attempting to gain purchase on it.

It's been a few days and it's not co-operating. I've no pain as yet. I gather the NHS doesn't do ear syringing anymore (fair enough) so I'll need to go private if I end up needing help.

Posting this in case anyone has any clever tips.

I'm not sure whether to use olive-oily type drops or just leave it alone.

If you’ve got a foreign body stuck in your ear you’d be within your rights to go to A&E or a walk in centre.

Emergency Nurse Practitioner here - I would happily see this in our walk in centre. It’s a quick and easy job, and very satisfying!

Don't poke in your ear or put any oil in, this won't help in the slightest!

I'm an Audiologist. Can you pop in to your nearest high street hearing care branch (Boots/Speccies) and ask if they will have a quick look? If they aren't busy you might get lucky.

I've taken many a foreign body out of ears, and often not charged if it's only taken all of 10 seconds. If it's too deep or touching the tympanic membrane then ENT A&E if you have one nearby.
