Wisdom tooth infection and I can't see properly

LaraWearsZara · 21/02/2023 22:20

I have a wisdom tooth infection and have currently had 5 amoxycillin tablets which h I was prescribed yesterday (pain started Satirday though).
I'm unable to swallow properly, talk properly and my entire lower jaw is throbbing. Its an upper wisdom tooth.
Today my vision has been extremely odd, not blurred necessarily but very hard to focus and almost like things are jumpy.
Tonight I have a really bad headache with it.
My heart rate is normal, Temp is normal and oxygen levels are normal, but I feel utterly shit and can't stop crying.
I've taken the maximum amount of paracetamol and ibuprofen I can.
Are these likely to be pencillin side effects? Nhs symptom checker isn't helping.

Have you called 111 for advice?

Icecreamandapplepie · 21/02/2023 22:28

You have my sympathies, awful.

111 to check for emergency situation.

Otherwise, can you go private? I was quoted £350 to have mine removed with a very well thought of dentist with a great rep (plus consumaysion fee and xray).

Otherwise, get to a n nhs dentist and insist something done. May be a wait tho.

With symptoms that bad I’d be going to A and E. You might need stronger antibiotics via IV.

Too many otherwises there

Toothache is so debilitating. You probably need more than Amoxicillin. Painkillers did nothing for mine.

I would phone 111 for advice but they'll probably just direct you to the dentist tomorrow - they were great with me when I was on holiday in another part of the country, tooth was out two hours after falling.

asblackasyoursoul · 21/02/2023 22:39

I’m currently on antibiotics for the same thing except I’m on Metronizadole.
Your symptoms sound much worse than mine.
You need to phone 111 for advice because being unable to swallow properly, talk properly etc sounds like the infection is spreading. Please call 111 now!

This happened to me and I ended up in hospital
in a drip with a swollen neck and struggling to breathe. Please phone 111 or go straight to A&E. My hospital were amazing and I was admitted for two nights it was so bad. They had a great Max Fax department who looked after me. I wish you well.

I'm so sorry I didn't reply till now. I fell asleep last night I felt dreadful. Had a second emergency apt at the dentist today and the infection has spread quite a bit. I'm now on the antibiotics which starts Metro something as well as still taking the amoxycillin
I feel like death and am booked to have the tooth out in March at a cost of £475 😭😭 I could cry

Flipping heck that's expensive. It cost me £20 on a Saturday morning, 300 miles from home!

Poor you though, the pain is the worst.

Do not drink even a drop of alcohol on those antibiotics. Metronidazole will make you sicker than you've ever been.
