Duodenal ulcer and gastritis

I've been diagnosed today following an endoscopy. Test for h pylori bacteria was negative so I've just been told to carry on taking omezeparole.

Has anyone else had these conditions, particularly if not caused by bacteria? How do you manage it? Any advice? Thanks

Watching with interest as my mum has this

Any progress on this OP? I have just had the same outcome after a gastroscopy

@hearthelp no progress really. Still taking lansoprazole. I find drinking alcohol really aggravates it so trying to give up completely but not easy! Have given up caffeine completely ans trying to limit chocolate (again not easy!)

I probably need to chat to my gp as was just diagnosed by the hospital but has no advice on how to manage it at all. Have you had any?

I have one caused by H pylori, which you say you didn't have. Did you ever take a lot of Neurofen or the likes (NSAIDS)? They can cause ulcers too.

Anyway I am fine now (touch wood), but the treatment for HP was not very nice AT ALL, but did the trick in the end. I occasionally get nausea if I drink coffee too quickly, but I still drink some coffee and am otherwise fine. I don't eat much meat, don't drink alcohol, and avoid (don't like so that's OK!) spicy stuff like Indian/Chinese food. I also rarely eat anything fried. This was always my way, so nothing was a chore really apart from not over eating at one sitting. I could be a bit greedy but have worked that one out!

I am still on Esomeprazole two years later since I had a big internal bleed (which is how the ulcer was found) and it is to protect the stomach lining from further erosion. I also take low dose aspirin for the ticker and the PPI helps protect the stomach from the effects of that.

Honestly I had zero symptoms, just the horrible bleed from back there (!) that was both very frightening and a total shock.

I hope you do well, and I probably wasn't much help, but I sympathise.

I've had this. About 4 years ago. Puzzled me and HCPs as I tested neg for h pylori (multiple times), don't smoke or drink alcohol and don't take any medication.

I wondered if I have Crohns but all tests normal. Have high CRP in almost every blood test however and sore joints / occasional (severe) abdominal pain.
