Symptoms of IBD but had a normal colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy this week for suspected IBD. My symptoms are urgency in the morning and going 3+ times everyday. Then around once a week I will have an episode of stomach cramps and urgency followed by diarrhoea - it feels like a stomach bug. I have had bloody mucus on two different occasions a few months apart, which last happened two months ago.

I had high caloprotectin so had an urgent referral for a colonoscopy. I had the colonoscopy this week and all was normal with no signs of inflammation, polyps, ulcers or haemohorroids. If it wasn't for the blood I would just say I had IBS, but I don't know what caused the bleeding/bloody mucus.

I've had biopsies taken, but in my post-sedation dream world I forgot to ask what they are actually testing these for

Has anyone got any advice on what can be shown on a biopsy and if it is possible that bleeding can be caused by IBS?

I had similar, high calprotectin but nothing on colonoscopy or small
bowel mri. They didn’t take biopsies which I thought was remiss as I know colitis can be microscopic, although on my last stool sample (post colonoscopy when I had more diarrhoea) my calprotectin had gone down to normal levels again 🤷‍♀️
Still having gastric issues - mainly upper now along w a lot of flatulence!!!
I never really had the mucous or prolonged diarrhoea though, the high calprotectin ‘let’s just check’ from the GP started the ball rolling.
I go 1-3 x a day which is in realms of normality but I can’t remember if I went more than once pre all these issues!! I’ve always been windy too but this is something else.

I’d ask for a SeCHAT scan, might be bile acid malabsorption.

You need the entirety of your gut looked at, so if biopsies from your colonoscopy come back normal then they either need to MRI scan your small bowel, or give you a pill cam to swallow. crohns can be anywhere from mouth to butt, so colonoscopy is a good tool, but does not check everywhere.

Have you had a coeliac screen?

Will they do that automatically or will I have to 'fight' for that? The nurse mentioned during I had been discharged from the gastroenterology unit but I will have a call from the consultant to discuss the results of my biopsy when they are in, so I think they intend to just discharge me back to my GP?

Is that the coeliac blood test? If so, yes I've had that and it came back negative

I have similar issues although I think caused by other medication which I can't stop taking . After much pushing i recently had a flexible sigmoidoscopy and they took biopsies for microscopic colitis as the examination was clear. I've got a call for the results on Thursday. I've also got an appointment for the bike study as well. I've looked at symptoms for both and can see that it could be either one. The doctor always tried to pass it off with IBS but it just follow the pattern / symptoms
