Pain on left side of abdomen

Springnightstanddays · 16/02/2023 17:57

For about 3 weeks I have a pain on left side of my abdomen, like around my navel and approximately 2 inches from it.
It feels like a pushing feeling inside, especially after food.
Its definitely not any reproductive organs.
Also I feel bloated especially when I woke up.
I also have an umbilical hernia for many years inside my navel, which never causes any issue, however I lifted heavy item approximately 3 weeks ago.
I know I can’t be diagnosed here however but I hope maybe some Gp is here or something, I couldn’t get even a phone appointment in my surgery.
I have no any other issues like nausea or fever, have a good appetite too.

Google Gallstones and see if your symptoms match.
The 'after food' pain is what I get with a gallstone!

endofthelinefinally · 17/02/2023 03:57

Gall stone pain is on the right, higher up usually.
It sounds like your symptoms are related to your hernia.
Email or write to your gp with a detailed history. If it is in writing they have to read it.

Gastritis ?

Pirrin · 17/02/2023 04:03

Sounds like it needs looking at for sure. I would keep monitoring temperature and checking for other symptoms that might be related to the hernia. But otherwise try and have lots of fluids and maybe some prune juice to keep things moving along well in case it's a constipation (can be surprisingly painful).

Springnightstanddays · 17/02/2023 10:00

@Pirrin thank you.
No fever or anything, have a good appetite, always looking for what to eat around house.
Managed to get appointment later this morning, so will see..
Woken up at 2am very bloated, had to walk and stretch to get the gases out.

getting worried now.
I have no issues on my right site, just the left one.

Update
I had the Gp appointment, she checked my abdomen, said it maybe the hernia but could not feel it much as it is small, sent me for a ultrasound.

I have had left sided pain on and off for ages in my abdomen (it changes and got much worse last year). Had ultrasound, referral to gastro, blood tests, double camera inspection and now they think I may have IBS/Gluten intolerance and some other issues.

But please don’t avoid eating gluten OP as you need to be eating plenty of it for at least 6 weeks prior to the tests. Take care OP and keep us posted.

Springnightstanddays · 17/02/2023 13:24

@BeeBB thank you.
I was thinking perhaps some intolerance too as I'm already have allergy to wheat however I don't avoid it at all as I was told that not really necessary by my consultant.
I noticed that when I put a drop of single or double cream into my coffee, my tummy started rumbling with cramps suddenly so violently. But no diarrhoea or anything.
Yes also was sent for blood tests.

I actually googled it all up- the pain, it came up with diverculatis disease, cancer or hernia.
So yep im worried a bit now.
But it all started the day I lifted the heavy item..

I get exactly the same pain, it comes and goes and is often after eating. I also get very bloated. Haven't seen a doctor for it but I assume it's diverticulitis based on the location.

Springnightstanddays · 18/02/2023 09:20

@Blinky21 i thought the same, I asked the Gp and she said it’s well possible as well.
In the past like maybe once a year or so, I had always for few days only, like a sharp twisting knife pain in the same place- left side. It felt like a food or drink got stuck in some pocket or bubble of gas, lasting few seconds only, but very annoying pain, it always went after few days.
She sending me for some blood tests, one of them is CA125, I’m very worried now.

@Springnightstanddays - don’t worry about the CA125 - it’s def routine- - I had that along w full bloods etc last year cos had some gynae symptoms- it was a polyp which I had out subsequently as can turn dodgy (and fibroids but they’ve left them!).

My husband was admitted to ASU by our doctor.
After blood tests and a CT scan, he was diagnosed with diviterculitis (he has had this before)
Sent home with antibiotics and codeine for the pain, and told not to wear tight waistbands/belts as this aggravates it.
A few days later he was fine.

BeeBB · 18/02/2023 21:52

Take care OP and hope they get to the bottom of it for you and it is nothing serious and something easily remedied.

Fenimore · 06/05/2024 21:04

@Springnightstanddays sorry to revist an old thread but wondered if you got to the bottom of the pain? I’m suffering with similar now.
