On Wednesday evening I experienced a sudden pain in the ball of my right foot - like nothing I'd ever felt before. The only way I can describe it is that it felt like I must have a bony growth protruding out of my foot, or like I had a rock n my shoe. I was scared to look but did, and my foot looked completely normal. The pain was okay as long as I wasn't standing or putting any pressure on my foot. Went to bed hoping it would be better in the morning, but when I woke my foot was bruised, all around the ball (gross pic attached - sorry!).
Managed to get a same day (Thursday) appointment with a nurse practitioner at my GP surgery. She had no idea what could have caused it but was fairly sure it was a soft tissue issue rather than a stress fracture, but again couldn't explain how it could have happened when the pain and bruising literally came out of nowhere. She prescribed me with some strong anti-inflammatories, told me to rest it, and to come back in a couple of weeks.
Pain was a bit better on Friday and the bruising was starting to look a bit better too. Then, in the afternoon, the ball/toe area of my right foot started to feel tingly and numb. It looked normal and this passed off after a couple of hours. Fast forward to the weekend, and both today and yesterday (Saturday) I've been experiencing persistent numbness and tingling in my foot, especially my bog toe. The ball of my foot feels and looks a lot better but the sensation of numbness is terrible. It comes and goes. On Saturday it was there for hours, then felt better, then started up again. My right big toe was visible whiter than on the right as if there was restricted blood flow getting to it. My doctor is closed on weekends and no walk in centres around here, so ended up taking myself to A&E - sat there for 8 hours without being seen and the numbness completely wore off so I took myself home. This morning it started again.
I know that this needs looking at my a medical professional but I am just at such a loss for what to do and so worried about what it could be - does anyone out there have any similar experiences??? I would be so grateful to hear what happened and what it turned out to be.
