H Pylori treatment

Hello, I’ve been given a weeks worth of antibiotics for H pylori Amoxicillin and Metronidazole and also a stomach acid inhibitor. I feel awful on them! It’s a heavy dose of anti b. But reading up I should have been given two weeks worth?

Anyone done two weeks? I’m almost through the first week. Been putting it off for ages!

Yes. I did two weeks worth just recently. Although, I'm not in the UK, but I'd say the treatment would be standard. I really felt awful on the antibiotics too. Feeling great now 3 weeks after finishing the course.

Just checked the formulary where I'm in Scotland. Definitely just one week of treatment

One week of treatment is standard.

I had one weeks treatment but felt rough as anything for about another month or so.

Thanks. I feel just very yucky with it and been a full on week with work, kids just every thing and I need to rest. But can’t. Anyway I’m almost there. 3 more doses.

what antibiotics did you all take?

good to know a week is ok. Hope it goes. Taken me a while to pluck up the courage to even take them as I knew I’d feel pretty rubbish on them.

also how did you build up your gut bacteria again?

anyone get thrush? I never get thrush and I’m not itchy but have noticed a white discharge - great!! Last day tomorrow then I guess thrush treatment!!

I had two weeks of the same drugs as you OP, that was two years ago, and I never want to go through that again! The cure was worse than the disease for sure. All good now.

I took probiotic pills and yakult daily, I'm sure it helped but it didn't feel like it at the time.

Hey, I completed 5 days of triple therapy yesterday for this but was up vomiting all night so couldn't take the meds today. I'm meant to take them for 14 days!! Did anyone else vomit on these and if so did the doctor say you should conot ie treatment? I know I have to complete the 14 days to clear it but I have two young kids so I can't be vomiting for the next 7 days!

Oh god, I'm just waiting to hear if i have this and your accounts are filling me with dread. How long after giving the sample did it take for you to get your result?
