psorisis (scalp) and ME

Hey,

I've had scalp psorisis for over 6 years, I never sort any help intil about 6 months ago but my GP is fundermentally unhelpful about most things, he has pescribed me diprosalic for the psorisis but refuses to recognise that I suffered with ME in the past, just wondered if any one else has any experience with either conditions and what treatment has been useful?

Plus, do these two conditions go together normally?

I have scalp psoriasis, no experience of ME, sorry
Is diprosalic topical?

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 05/02/2008 14:52

DH uses Dovobet ointment on his scalp psoriasis.

I have scalp psoriasis and use t gel shampoo for a few days when it gets really irritating. I've no idea about a link with ME, sorry. It's definitely much worse when I'm stressed.

StealthPolarBear · 05/02/2008 15:01

i use dovonex and it works when I remember to use it. Definitely worse when stressed (and better when pregnant )
I meant a skin solution, sorry if that's not the right word

Emily - I have had scalp psoriasis since I was a child, and had ME for several years in my mid 20s (have been fine for the last 10+ years). I'd never heard of a connection between the two in the past so it's an interesting question!

My psoriasis gets worse when I'm stressed, I've never found any treatment that improves it except that it almost completely disappeared within weeks of me giving up dairy products 2 years ago. I went dairy free to try and aid DS's eczema, in fact it had no effect on that, but many of my leftover ME symptoms, like the psoriasis, IBS and constant runny nose/sneezing improved markedly, which was a nice surprise! I'm getting a lot of these symptoms back again now that I'm pregnant though.

No idea if this is helpful or not!

wow
tho mine was better when pg and i was drinking milk by the pint so maybe not in my case

I had great success with dovonex scalp solution this autumn. Its come back now so i've put in a repeat prescription request. I've found that sometimes its not effective but if I don't use it for a couple of years it works again. odd. Have used betacap, pretty successful but I'm very wary of stronger steroids now as I've had steroid induced cataracts.
Other things that have helped are the Marilyn conditioner and the camomile solid shampoo (one that makes you blonder) both from lush. It doesnt work once its established but does help to keep it at bay when its mild.
