DS has just bitten my hand and drawn blood, is this an infection risk - or am I thinking of dog bites?!!

Not his fault, poor little man is teething not being naughty (12mths). Have put TCP and a plaster on it. Anything else I should do / watch out for?!

IIRC, human bites are dirtier than dog bites. You've done the right thing by cleaning and covering. You need to keep an eye on it for redness (excessive as it will be a little red due to the healing process)swelling, heat, discharge- green/brown and anuy unusual odours. In an adult bite we woul clean, give anti biotics and then see again in clinic. I'm not sure if it is the same for childrens bites tho'.

Disclaimer. It is a long time since I nursed in A&E, things may have change since then.

Thank you henni - so you think no need to see anyone about it unless any of the above symptoms appear?
(p.s. also washed hands with soap and water before TCP.)
