Long term PPI and scared of cancer

I have bad health anxiety and have a small hiatus hernia 1cm that causes me bad reflux.
Got put in Omeprazole 10mg Caps 1 a day 4 years ago. It works, mostly unless I over indulge and then I just take a gavsicon aswell.
I've been reading about the possible links to stomach cancer with long term PPI use and I'm terrified.
Has anyone any more info on this or advice from healthcare professionals? I'm so scared.
But if I don't take it then acid repeatedly coming up into my oesophagus had risks of oesophageal cancer 😩

Im the same although it’s a 2cm hiatus hernia and Uve been on omeprezole about 7 years with NO review or ever having spoken to an enterologust, just 2 endoscopies but no consultation I had cut down to 20mg every other day but think would prefer 10mg a day, that sounds better. I’m currently on 40mg a day as I had a flare up . Not much acid reflux due to level of medication but heavy chest and feel good when swallow. When I take omeprezole I don’t absorb nutrients well which gp agreed with and now got osteopenia. But if I cut down then they’ve scares me with what the acid could do! I did Go to a butritionalust but she told me to come off all medication 🙈. Diet is good but still worries if not taking omeprezole at all but weighing up being low in iron calcium etc because of it. Google the acid watcher diet by dr Jonathan Aviv if you want an alternative to ppis or being able to cut down at least.
I’ve been on ppi for a few months - a bit in and off - but also on the diet and when I had to come off the ppi for the endoscopy there wasn’t much difference after having been on the diet for a couple of months.
there are 3 FB groups dedicated to it as well w support and recipes!
i haven’t got a hernia but it has really helped my symptoms overall, it basically heals inflammation.

Thank you @JustDanceAddict so much for that, I will look it up for sure. I am just overwhelmed with it all so the fb group and diet sounds promising. I’m glad it helped your symptoms. xx
