People suggesting this “flu” bug is a Covid variant that doesn’t show on LTR tests

Saw a Twitter thread here: twitter.com/photosbygk/status/1609670187317399552?s=21

Anecdotally at least, the new variant only shows up on PCR tests.
Have to say symptoms we’ve got in my family seem more like Covid then flu, though testing negative on LTR tests.
The nausea, diarrhoea and endless watery cough don’t seem like flu. Plus it’s dragging on for ever.

My parents just had covid and were ill for several days before testing positive. It’s only because my mother did another test a few days after the first one - maybe three or four days - that they knew it was covid at all.

It’s also clearly very contagious and even through my parents have both just had a bivalent booster in the last 60 days, they both still got it.

Friends child had all of those symptoms (including 4 days of vomiting) and was hospitalised, tested for various things (blood and swab) and the blood test results were positive for Flu. Not covid (negative)
And hospital was full of kids with confirmed flu, not covid.

Yes, it's possible

I'm not sure but my daughter had 5 days of sickness and diarrhoea (negative test) then I gave down with it on Thursday. The sickness has subsided but I have flu symptoms now and haven't been out of bed. I'm the 3rd person in my team to have a flu type illness (we haven't been in office for 3weeks) I honestly wouldn't wish it on anyone xxx

I have wondered. We were all quite ill over Christmas and New year. All tested negative except both me and one DC had very faint positives on the newest type of LFT. Also had some older tests that came back negative every time.

Very odd.

The doctor apparently said this to my neighbours - reckoned they'd had Covid over Christmas but they didn't test positive. Neighbours are intelligent people who know the doctor well so they are not making it up!

LFT tests do not detect covid. I personally do not believe covid existed so call me a covid denier.
