Anyone still up? Vomiting Toddler

Possibly TMI.. you have been warned.

My 17mo has been vomiting all day, breakfast came back up within minutes, midmorning snack came back in about 20.

We left him a few hours and gave him some bread about 3pm, then some potatoes from our dinner at 5.20.

8.30 bread, potatoes and some of his morning snack came back, none of it had been even vaguely digested.

He's been drinking, and while he's seemed lethargic, he's still been playing on and off.. he's had a dirty nappy, a bit looser than usual but not diarhea. had a slight temp but nothing over 99.

he went to bed at 10.30 and woke up at 1am, hes been sick again.

Is this a virus? Should i call the dr?

Maybe call nhs direct if you are worried but if he seems realtively ok and is drinking, he's probably ok.

I'd call the GP in the morning just to check.

Make sure he is drinking plenty.

as long as hes drinking and keeping that down he will be ok until tomorrow

Probably a virus and you can do nothing but sit it out and wait for it to be over.

I think the advice is not to give any food for at least 6 hours after he last vomited and only small sips of water at a time. His tummy needs a rest.

If he is alert enough to play and drinking he is probably OK. He won't be his usual self but he shouldn't be floppy and unresponsive.

The temperature might be making him sick too so if you can get a dose of Calpol in him (when he wakes) it might help, if he can keep it down.

If he is still being sick by mid morning tomorrow I would speak to the doctors. Tbh they aren't going to want to see him if he has just a virus and they won't be able to give him anything either, just advice for you and reassurance that it is nothing sinister. Ask for a telephone consultation - they can always ask you to come in if they have any doubts.

I hope he is better soon though - it is really crappy to see them ill.

i'm probably going to just settle him back to sleep and try him with a little breakfast if he isnt sick again between now and morning

don't forget the foods to eat after being sick are banana, rice, apples and toast.
