Bowel cramps and passing only mucus??

Hi,

I recently found out I'm pregnant and started having these super painful cramps that feel like period pains but much worse (front and back). I initially thought something was wrong with the pregnancy but later realised this is a digestive thing.

These cramps come on randomly and when they do the gradually get stronger. Lasting between 10 and 40 minutes. I can sort of feel like my rectum is spasming so I go to the toilet and I pass a small amount of mucus. Sometimes it's white, yellow or brown.

Other times I pass a very very small poop and the mucus. Other times it's just wet farts (gas and mucus)

Then the cramping gradually fades and goes away.

They checked my stool and found no bacteria or anything. I've been told to just let it pass...

It's been happening for about a week and a half. What on earth is happening to me?Sad

Are you constipated?

Turniptracker · 01/01/2023 07:29

Mucus is usually indicative of a food intolerance for me so perhaps pregnancy has caused you to develop an intolerance to something you were previously ok to eat? Maybe try cutting dairy and see if it makes a difference?

I’ve experienced this with pre-prepared bagged lettuce.

Samanthascousinbrenda · 01/01/2023 07:35

Could be constipation or ibs.

TeeEmm · 01/01/2023 14:50

@emmathedilemma I'm not sure.. I am eating fibre and drinking plenty of water though.

@Samanthascousinbrenda can ibs just randomly start because of pregnancy though?

@WanttoFit how long did it go on for and how did you resolve it? I haven't had any prebagged salads though

@Turniptracker I haven't eaten any dairy for well over a week. Didn't know this was even possible! New intolerances coz of pregnancy? Wow!

With my little girl I had terrible sickness and diarrhoea throughout. I did also develop terrible acid reflux whilst pregnant with her (she suffered as a baby with this). Possibly baby is intolerant to something
