Yes. why suffer if you don't have to? I'm assuming you are not battling an addiction here - why not??

noddyholder · 03/02/2008 22:45

I would if you are that nervous! And can you send me one as I haven't slept for 4 nights!

K20 · 03/02/2008 22:46

Why not just have one when you wake up tomorrow and save the other for the next part of the treatment .....

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 22:47

No addiction though I have had maybe 12 in 6 months (3 per visit)

I think I'm getting better tho'

Maybe 1 tonite & 1 tomorrow?

Katymac, were you prescribed them by your doctor to cope with dental treatment? I ask because I'm terrified of the dentist and my teeth are in a right state. I have asked the dentist if she will give me any kind of sedative and she said no. Do you think my dr would prescribe a small no of valium just for having teeth extracted etc?

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 22:55

Dentist gave them to me - I can have up to 3 in the 24 hrs before treatment

It doesn't sedate me
I couldn't drive tho'

It does stop me clinging to the ceiling with my fingernails

My dentist just said a flat out no when I asked if there was anything I could take or whatever to relax she's crap!!!!

I will ask my GP, I need to have all the work done before baby's first birthday (aug 9th) as I won't be able to afford it afterwards. Thanks for the info, I had no idea!

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 23:09

Did you bite her?

I found that worked along with verbal and physical abuse

My dentist is lovely - he listened to DH talking about taking me to my last dentist & then handed me the valium

Wow, no didn't think of biting her, maybe I'll try that next time lol

I'm not phobic, I just get very anxious, tearful and sick. Just the thought of having work done is making my stomach tense up and I now feel sick. I wouldn't bite or verbally abuse her, I'd just put off making the appointment for another 7 years, so wouldn't actually be there...

I do need to get them done now though, they're getting really bad, more holes in them than a block of emmental.

KatyMac · 03/02/2008 23:17

Try rescue remedy plus peppermint & chalomine (sp) tea They help

But for major work I need valium

Oh katy - you have my sympathy. i am terrified of the dentist. I have to take Ds2 on my own while he gets 2 teeth extracted. Then I have 2 broken ones that the dentist wants removed. The problem is that I saw a dentist in St Andrews about 3 years ago and she was going to refer me to the dental hospital so i could get them removed under sedation. But she left before the referral got done and there wa sno other dentist availiable. I think I will have to start yelling and see if this dentist will sedate me

KatyMac · 04/02/2008 12:58

All done - just another 2 visits to go

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 04/02/2008 13:17

How did you get on? did the valium help?

KatyMac · 04/02/2008 15:27

I survived
