Girls i was wondering if anyone out there has had this treatment done latley. I am having mine done on the 15th of December and iam ttc no. 2.
I cant remember what it was like afterwards as my last one was about 10 yrs ago.
I have a approx. 25 day cycle and iam due around the 9th or 10th which means that i will be due to ov a day or so after the op. Gyno says that i have a good chance of getting pg that month if iam able to get back into it once the bleeding stops. How long do you bleed for and are you in much pain afterwards and for how long?????
I live in Australia so will be off to bed soon but would love it if someone could share there story about their experience and especially if they fell pg after the treatment.
Thank you girls for taking the time to read this i hope someone can help me.
LOL Tan XXX

Hi Tania2
I had most of my lap and laser treatments in Australia too! From memory I didn't bleed for very long after the treatment the worst bit was the shoulder tip pain and I was given Mersyndol which made me feel very groggy. Once the stitches were removed after a week, I felt pretty good again. I know it's only a day proceedure but you still need to take it easy for at least a few days afterwards.
I fell pregnant the month of my last treatment(which was in this country) so I hope you are as succesful too.
Good Luck and thinking of you.

Sorry to scare you about the stitches but I had a couple of stitches at each of the three puncture sites.
Sorry to hear you have been having such a hard time TTC. Did you have problems falling pregnant the first time? Which State are you living in?

Petall · 03/12/2004 12:35

Tan I have to be honest i can't remember when I ovulated, but I had the treatment in September and must have fallen pregnant straight away as I did not realise I was pregnant until i was 11 weeks! I thought my cycle was all over the shop and when i finally thought I might be pregnant, made it 9 weeks, so was very shocked to find I was 11 at the scan.

Petall · 03/12/2004 12:36

PS It wssn't September this year , in case I have confused you!

Tania2 · 03/12/2004 12:37

Actually my girlfriend just had a etopic and had the lap done and i was that she had stitches. Never mind that is the least of my worries.
Found out i had endo when i was 18 (was with my dh from 17 yrs old and still with him) didnt take the pill or any other drugs because i didnt want to make it even harder to concieve when we were ready. dr told me that i would need help to concieve so we didnt use any protection. My ds has just turned 2 gyno classes that as at least 7 yrs ttc but i dont cause we wernt paying attention to my cycles IYKWIM.
Iam living in Melbourne. Where were you when you were in Australia?

Tania2 · 03/12/2004 12:40

I was put on the pill when i was 14 cause periods were so heavy and painfull and all the dr's would say is that "this is being part of a girl get used to it" all men what would they know. finaly at 18 my dh had enough and made me go see a gyno sure enough i was a text book case. all those years of suffering!!! they say that younger girls are now getting diagnosed now.
What is a cap??? sorry to be nieve.

I've never been to Victoria and I'm sure there's more reason to go there than Brisbane! Although Noosa etc is worth the trip!
A cap is like a diaphragm you put over your cervix and use a spermicide gel with.Fiddly ,messy and not very spontaneous or effective if your weight fluctuates and your size changes. I'm talking a few pounds not stones!

Petall · 03/12/2004 13:04

Tan better go and do the lunch thing and watch Neighbours for my Daily dose of culture! No doubt you'll be asleep by the time I get back to this, so good luck with the lap and I'll check out the thread to see how you are going.
LOL

Hi tania

I had a laparoscopy and HSG (??) no laser treatment (unexplained infertility so diff circumstances ) but did get pregnant immediately afterwards. I had a couple of stitches in my belly button (but again, slightly different treatment) - TBH I didn't really notice them much until I got pg and they turned completely brown - it still looks like I haven't washed my belly button and that was three years ago!

Although our circumstances are different I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck with the op and TTC.

Tania2 · 04/12/2004 03:47

Thank you zippy my scars have totally disappeared from my last treatment but i did notice my belly button had that brown line when i was pg now that you mention it. dont know why i didnt have stitches last time they just put clear tape over the cuts. Thank you for wishing me luck i really appreciate it.

Anyone else?????
I really need as much advice and success stories as i can. getting a little nervous. Had plenty of op's but its been so long since i had this particular one and i am a little worried at what they may find.

OP posts:
Tania2 · 04/12/2004 12:16

OP posts:
Tania2 · 05/12/2004 10:47

Just thought i would bump up my thread again.
Starting to get nervous about the op really worried that they may not find anything and there is no reason why we havent fallen pg yet.

There was a programme on Radio 4 about this not long ago. You might find it if you go to BBC Radio4 webiste and search. Might be something useful there?

meysey · 06/12/2004 22:58

hi

good luck and hope all goes well. I had laser/lap a few years ago, but they also took out my appendix so recovery was a bit longer than normal.
But it made a big difference to my life.

I didn't want to get pregnant at that time, but a few years later I got pregnant easily and am now on DS2.

My belly button is still a bit brown come to think of it!
