Hi
I started ttc my 2nd dc at the end of August 07.
I was diagnosed with a underactive thyroid in November 07.
I have heard that a underactive thyroid can cause difficulties ttc.
What should I do I am now on thyroxine and my TSH levels are now down to 6.6.
Do I just continue ttc and hope for the best or should I be under a endocrinologist to give me the best chance of concieiving.

I am 37 years of age so can hear my biological clock ticking away.
Can anybody offer any advice.

what does your gp think?

i wqas diagnosed in 1998 and concieved in 1999(without trying to) and once i was pregnant i was under the endocinologist whilst pregnant.

Just chill and let it happen in it's own time.

Good luck

Hello, there is a really long thread on here about thyroid and trying to concieve and all that goes with it. Have a search as you may find it helpful. It may be worth trying to get your TSH lower as some believe it should be under 2 during pregnancy. Have a chat to your GP about it, if you don't get anywhere then you can request a referral to an endo. Best of luck

I have an underactive thyroid and until that post I had no idea an UAT could cause problems conceiving (have had 2 children whilst UA) so I just wanted to reassure you that is doesn't always correlate.

Has your gp been any use?

My gp thinks I should take a break from ttc until my TSH levels are right.

I am ashamed to admit that I haven't taken a break. I feel quite desperate to concieve quickly because of my age.

When I started ttc in August last year my AF went awol for about 3 months I had a blood test done to find out why and that is how it was discovered my thyroid was underactive.

My AF came back in December does anybody know when I should count the time of ttc from, should I count from August or Decemeber when my cycle came back.
