DD1 has smelly breath. She brushes twice a day and i've read she should brush her tongue which we'll do, but has anyone else experienced this and what advice can you give me.

Does she suffer from adenoid or tonsil problems? They can be a cause of bad breath.

Twiglett · 01/02/2008 20:48

when did she last go to the dentist?

debbiewebweb · 01/02/2008 20:49

Is it all the time? We always find dd's breath smells when they are poorly - just a cold can make a big difference.

DiscoDizzy · 01/02/2008 21:07

jalopy - not that i know of
twig - less than 6 months (but due in feb so i'll mention it
debbie - yeah i think its all the time, but DH hasn't noticed it.

Have to say I am quite fanatical about cleaning teeth etc, its just she's got this really strange smell. Its not a dirty smell, just a strange smell, which obviously I appear to be struggling to describe!

Remembered this article:

observer.guardian.co.uk/life/story/0,,429800,00.html

Doesn't sound like it's as bad as that, but it's an interesting idea.

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 21:19

could be digestive problems or have read worms can cause this? do not want to worry you but something to consider perhaps

DiscoDizzy · 01/02/2008 21:21

smelly breath, like pear drops can be a sign of diabetes too. I noticed it with ds2, but didn't connect it with diabetes until he started weeing and drinking loads of water.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 01/02/2008 22:28

its not rotten but not pleasant
no worms - still in nappies

glitterandsparkle · 01/02/2008 22:32

cadelaide · 01/02/2008 22:40
