I would like to ditch condoms don't want to go with chemical contraception nor are we ready for Dh to have his tubes tied.

Is there an idiots guide on the internet somewhere or can someone explain it to me.

I have a 28-30 day cycle.

IMO its a risky approach as you can never be certain when you actually ovulate and some women ovulate more than once a month. I think there are kits on the market that let you track your ovulation by measuring hormone levels (Persona or something like that) or you could track your temp, I think it goes up a bit when you ovulate.

JingleyJen · 01/02/2008 17:48

So if I convinced Dh that we didn't need protection last night it is totally possible that I got it wrong

it is really tricky. it is taught by natural family planning teachers

nope, can't find website

involves temperature charting , observing your cervical mucus, and checking the position of your cervix and avoiding the potentially 8 fertile days of your cycle.. as sperm can live up to 7 days

and yes, it is totally possible you got it wrong!

women can ovulate earlier or later in their cycles!

get MAP today/ tomorrow if you are not wanting the chance of another child

BroccoliSpears · 01/02/2008 17:53

Also, can't sperm procrastinate for a week or something, and then swim off to find the egg? So if you don't have some other method of not becomming pregnant, timing alone isn't foolproof.

JingleyJen · 01/02/2008 17:55

so sorry for too much detail but my period finished yesterday so we are day 4 of a 28-30 day cycle.. do I really need to get MAP?

oh yes, sperms are well known procrastinators

you need to get contraception of some method sorted properly before you have sex if you don;t want the chance of more babies

Lulumama · 01/02/2008 17:58

yes, IMHO

plenty of day 8 babies been born for example.. see threads passim !

sperm can live up to 7 days so if you ovulate early, you could get caught

fireflytoo · 01/02/2008 18:01

Look for something called the Billinge system. It teaches you about reading your own body through the mucous test. Has proved very successful in third world countries where it has been tested (amongst other places I believe)

TheBlonde · 01/02/2008 18:04

good site here

main problem with it is you will naturally want to have sex when you are most likely to get pg
willpower is required

we used to do this... then I ovulated a day early... result DC1

Typical males, eh.
