Severe period pains 3 weeks after c section????????????

I had an emergency c section 3 weeks ago yesterday, and since tuesday have been experiencing really severe constant periods pains that only ease with really hefty painkillers.
Im not really bleeding anymore though??

Does anyone know if this is normal for after a c section???

How often are you getting them? It's normal to have some pains as the womb contracts back down. Mine were so painful that I had to breathe through them, as per a contraction.

I would contact your MW though, this isn't the sort of thing you should just rely on MN advice for. Hope you are ok.

Yes, think Beansprout is spot on though it could be your system settling down, I know I have very bad pains after my first c-section with twins. Get it checked out though just to be sure. Best of luck and hope you get some relief from the pain soon

They are at there worse in the morning. My mum is staying at the momment and is taking my son after his 8am feed so i can sleep. But im waking an hour or so later with severe constant period pain. They return through out the day but not as intense.
Ive seen the doc yesterday and was just given stronger painkillers and told to return on monday if no better????

I would say no this is not normal post c-section. I had an emergency c-s and this did not happen to me.

I would also consider contacting the hospital where you had the c-s done.

I would return to the GP asap, you need a referral to a gynae. Something is causing this and it needs further investigation and treatment. You may have contracted an infection following the c-s. Adhesions (sticky strands) can also cause pain, these are very common following such surgery.

I had a c-section and didn't have any pain like that at any point. I would definitely get it checked out. Don't let them fob you off.
