Knee pain and can't weight bear

I saw my gp about my knee yesterday and she's referred me for an xray, however today the pain has increased so much and the knee gives way. I can't weight bear on that leg at all now.

Should I ring my gp tomorrow? Or 111 or whatever the number is. Or go to out of hours/A&E? I can't walk to the front door, let alone the car! I live alone, no one who can help me and I've cats to look after. I couldn't clean the litter tray this evening 😩

No idea what to do. If I had a crutch I'd probably manage without putting that leg in the floor, but no idea how to get a crutch without having to walk. Painkillers aren't touching the pain.

I don't think I've twisted it or anything. It's always been a bit dodgy but never this bad before.

Do you think you may have arthritis?

I get it really bad in my knee and like you am unable to put weight on it. Its worse when standing after sitting.
Hard to describe pain but when I have a flare up the knee swells too

Tumeric capsules daily have helped and also when in pain a hot wheat bag on the knee soothes it

Also bought a tens machine (helps a little) and a knee massager gizmo

Thanks, it's possible it's arthritis, the gp said they'd know after an xray. The problem is I live alone and can only hop around now. I think if I could get a crutch I'd manage much better, but don't know who supplies them. I'll ring 111 tomorrow and see what they say.

You get buy crutches from Amazon or Argos, much quicker than trying to get one on NHS and they will deliver to your door
