I am SOOOO awake! I've had my first 40mg today, got 5 more days to go, I'm as hyper as a tigger on speed.....had my final day's dose at 9pm...when will it wear off enough for me to go to bed??👀👀😳

I started of at 60mg and it made me sleepy...weird how it affects people differently

UnfitMum · 01/12/2022 01:29

That is odd! I'm also really hot, jittery, and got a sore dry throat. Ho hum! At least I'm not coughing so hard I'm seeing stars now.

Ds's doctor always tells me to give the full recommended daily does first thing in the morning. Could you ask if this would work for you so you might not be so awake come bed time?

GreenLunchBox · 01/12/2022 01:44

You're supposed to take it in the morning for this reason

GreenLunchBox · 01/12/2022 01:45

So 8 tablets all together as a single dose in the morning

UnfitMum · 01/12/2022 01:55

@GreenLunchBox Bugger. Wish someone had told me that!! I really can't see me sleeping tonight.

OP posts:
GreenLunchBox · 01/12/2022 01:57

Did you split them throughout the day?

So 8 tablets all together as a single dose in the morning

This is how my doctor says to take them.

DuchessDandelion · 01/12/2022 02:00

Yep, take it in the morning and you stand a chance of sleeping at night. Good luck x

DuchessDandelion · 01/12/2022 02:01

Don't know what you're taking them for and if it's for something leading to a temp, but I was always roasting on them too.

UnfitMum · 01/12/2022 02:05

Taking them for an asthma related coughing thing. And yep, I split them across the day. I've just double checked, since tbh my first thought was I misread the instructions! But there are none on the box and taking 8 tablets in one go is not the sort of thing one does without having been expressly told to! Not to worry. I will enjoy a day of hyper bounciness tomorrow when I take the whole lot in one go as intended first thing!

miraveile · 01/12/2022 02:08

I cannot take them because I don't sleep at all and it's awful, the day after the first night of no sleep you feel extremely shit. I've always stopped at that point. Be prepared to be awake for a long time!

UnfitMum · 01/12/2022 02:14

@miraveile Oh dear, thats not so good! Well I can only go with the flow, I have to take them because the alternative is awful spasmodic coughing fits that also keep me awake...at least now I'm not coughing as much.

Found this link for you, OP, just so you're not taking medical advice off randoms on the internet

Took second dose this morning and still awake now. Been totally wired all day non- stop motion but also am sick and feeling rotten but I just can’t rest or turn my brain off, hope you get some sleep soon op 😴

UnfitMum · 01/12/2022 02:43

@GreenLunchBox Thanks!

@Uachtar Likewise! Could be a long day by the sounds of it...

Oh prednisolone is a bugger for this! I've spent many nights bouncing off the walls when having to take it.

Definitely take in the morning and it - might - help, but sadly I got used to zero sleep while on them and a few days afterwards. Good luck!

Roselilly36 · 01/12/2022 04:27

Aww OP, you have my sympathy, I have taken 500mg of this drug, for 5 days when I have suffered an acute attack of my MS, never had so much energy, I could not sleep, I took all 5 tablets in the morning.

BG2015 · 01/12/2022 19:43

I'm on the same (I'm on a looooong tapered dose) started on 8 a day and keep dropping one every five days. Currently taking 6 now until Monday, then will drop to 5 tablets.

I've ALWAYS taken them all first thing - 6.30am with my breakfast.
