Advice please about a 6 year olds swollen penis that doesnt sound like balanitis

Have searched on this but all the messages seem to be about balanitis where the penis is sore and red at the foreskin. Yesterday my son complained his penis was sore and when I checked it had a lump about half way down and was inflamed. I thought I would just wait and see if it got better and today he said it was better but when I saw it when he was getting ready for bed the whole penis is swollen and the lump(s) are still there. He also says it is sore on each side of his groin which I presume are the glands being inflamed. I'm just not sure whether I should be doing anything tonight or if it is fine to wait and phone the doctors in the morning. He doesnt seem too bothered about it and isnt unwell in anyway and has no bother peeing. Thanks a lot.

If he's not too bothered then i would leave it (presumably he's fast asleep now anyway!).
Def docs in the morning though.

By the way, if it was the testicles seriously hurting, go to A&E immediately. Aapparently if testicles are twisted they can be rendered useless within hours (as in no grandkids for you)

Thanks for your responses. He is asleep now. I decided I would check him before I go to bed and have him sleep with me (I always do that when they are unwell) and then phone the doctors in the morning.

ds had molluscum last year and had lots of spots on and around his willy - one of them managed to get infected and the whole thing swelled up quite dramatically - does sound like an infection of some kind - hope he's feeling better in the morning

Thanks everyone. Took him to the doctors this morning and turns out it is balanitis so he has antibiotics and some cream and hopefully that will sort it out.
