Throwing up bike and home alone

I can’t stop being sick, I assumed food poisoning from eating out last night. DH and DC have gone away as planned for the night (I’m so sad to be missing this trip) but I literally don’t know what to do with myself. In bed with a bowl that’s filling up. Each time I try to sit up I feel like I’m fainting. Can’t face water. I’m so miserable.

I think all you can do is ride it out, but make sure someone local knows and can check on you.

This too shall pass

sittingonacornflake · 25/11/2022 13:56

Next time, don't eat the bike.

Sorry. Also Flowers

Jollychristmas · 25/11/2022 14:10

Oh poor you. That sounds awful. I guess the only thing you can do is ride it out. Try and remember that by this time tomorrow you will be through the worst of it.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 25/11/2022 14:23

Is it coming in cycles ? (Sorry Grin)
You're just going to have to give your stomach a rest for a while then do what you do with small kids
A sip.... keep it down? Have another in half hr. Throw it back.... wait an hr... until you can tolerate enough to get some rehydration stuff down you.

Northernsoullover · 25/11/2022 14:25

Drink lots of water. Even though it comes up immediately its a lot more 'pleasant' than throwing up bile.

HermioneWeasley · 25/11/2022 14:26

Is there anyone who could go the chemist for you? Sounds like you need an anti emetic. You can buy something called buccastem over the counter if you claim it’s for migraine induced nausea. You dissolve it between your top lip and your gum and should help.

Jollychristmas · 25/11/2022 14:38

No no one to ask that I would be happy to. I’m never ill and this has really hit me bad. I’m so sad I’ve missed the trip too.
each time I sit up I feel like im
faintjng, anything to help that?

It's the time of year for Norovirus unfortunately, I hope it passes quickly for you.

AriettyHomily · 25/11/2022 14:46

Just get into bed and ride it out (sorry!). It should pass quickly.

suzyscat · 25/11/2022 14:59

Coca Cola, I prefer it fizzy but I think many say to let it go flat.

Are you in an area where any shops or takeaways deliver? Literally just spend the minimum amount on Coca Cola and maybe a bit of bread.

Sainsburys do a service near me called chop chop where they deliver basics within 2 hours. There's also Deliveroo do supermarket and newsagent runs.

Or ask a neighbour to drop some to your door.

When you are able to eat the advice is Banana, rice, apple, toast.

Good poisoning is so horrid. Good luck.

Newlifestartingatlast · 25/11/2022 15:00

Whilst you might not be happy to, you probably should start to think about someone who can help if you have to
if you don’t keep sipping water and trying to get some down you will get dehydrated quickly. if it goes beyond 24 hours you need rehydration salts bought and dropped off through door for you to take
if you are genuinely in risk of fainting then you need to carry your phone on hand all the time so if you fall on way to loo or something, you can call for help.
You need to tell DH to get back as soon as they can tomorrow ..unless it suddenly stops.

suzyscat · 25/11/2022 15:00

Once I'm ready to eat I go for ready salted crisps - you want to replace lost salts.

Jollychristmas · 25/11/2022 15:22

Thank u everyone. I text my bro who’s been ill himself with flu like virus and he is bringing me water & lucozade and a phone charger. He has a key for my house so least I won’t have to venture downstairs.
i live rather rurally which is mostly great but in some situations is proper shit! we only have a premier in the village and it shuts at 4.

Make sure you rinse your mouth out with water after you're sick. The acid is not good for your teeth (and your mouth will feel nicer obviously). Try to at least take frequent little sips even if you can't face drinking.
