What could make one leg feel hotter than the other?

I'm a carer for my dd who has chronic MH problems. I am unable to leave the house to visit the doctor. The last few days I've been noticing heat radiating down my left leg for no apparent reason. I am type two diabetic and I had a knee replacement on the affected leg 2years ago. I don'tt want to bother the doctor with this,

Any itching, redness?

IvyAurora · 21/11/2022 20:23

Is it swollen and/or tender?

MandyMotherOfBrian · 21/11/2022 20:24

Well infection is the obvious one. Any redness?

MammaWeasel · 21/11/2022 20:24

Blood clot? Are you in pain with it? I would go to the Dr, you wouldn't be a bother to them. Xxx

Could be a DVT worth calling 111

Swapshopped · 21/11/2022 20:30

DVT? Phlebitis? I’d give 111 a call, particularly as you have diabetes.

pompomdaisy · 21/11/2022 20:32

DVT

1001Daffodils · 21/11/2022 20:37

My thoughts went immediately to DVT if there's no known reason.

This is urgent, please call 111 for more professional advice.

Deep vein thrombosis.

Swelling ? Pain ?

You need to see a GP if you don't your not going to be able to do any caring.

Dilbertian · 21/11/2022 20:42

Is the leg actually hotter to the touch, or is the sensation 'all in your mind'?

If the leg is hotter to the touch, then you must see the dr ASAP because it could be a DVT or cellulitis.

If the leg is not hotter, but you have phantom sensation of heat, then a nerve could be under pressure in your spine. Also needs to be seen by a dr or a physio.

There could be other issues. I am not a HCP, I only know about these two possibilities from personal experiences.

inigomontoyahwillcox · 21/11/2022 20:53

You do want to bother the dr with this.

It could be diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

It could be an infection/cellulitis which can ultimately make you become septic.

It could be a DVT which can travel and cause a pulmonary embolism.

All serious, the latter 2 deadly.

Justwingingitox · 21/11/2022 20:56

I know you say you're unable to see a GP.. but to be able to care for another person, you must also look after yourself and put your health first sometimes too.. it's better to be safe than sorry. Please get checked ASAP OP. X

I have had a dvt and my leg definitely felt hotter.
Other posters have mentioned cellulitis or infection, both also a possibility.
You need a proper assessment by a qualified person. Stop messing about - phone the Gp or 111.

Candleabra · 21/11/2022 21:01

Could be a DVT. Could be very serious. Seek medical advice immediately

I'm sorry I've only just returned. I had a crisis with my daughter which took up all my time. Will try and phone doctors today. Thank you all.
