I have suffered with cystitis after sex nearly every time I have sex for… 20 years. Ever since becoming sexually active, basically. Nothing shifts it but antibiotics.
for a while on advice of urologist I took one low dose of antibiotic after sex. That helped - didn’t eliminate the issue but definitely helped - for years. When TTC and having loads of sex, I was in agony every month. Came on here under different username and begged for help. Was recommended Malone-Lee clinic in London and I went for it.
No exaggeration to say it changed my life. They put me on high dose on antibiotics for what they thought was an embedded infection, as well as Hiprex. For the first time ever I had a normal sex life, didn’t have crushing anxiety around having sex, it was wonderful.
recently after two years of great tests etc they told me to come off the antibiotics and see what happened. Told me to take course of antibiotics at the first sign of trouble and monitor it.
first time I had sex after coming off the antibiotics I got burning stinging urethral pain that lasted a week and got progressively more uncomfortable. I tried treating for thrush and eventually gave up and took antibiotic course. Went away.
i had sex again Tuesday and lo and behold I now have urethral stinging and irritation.
im so gutted. Have spent fortune and taken seriously high dose antibiotics for years… to no avail. It hadn’t helped. I can’t just be on antibiotics forever and I don’t want to give up sex! I’m s married woman.
so many stories out there about M-L clinic changing lives but has anyone found it actually FIXED the problem or is it only effective when you’re on the treatment??
