Been to the doctors about ovulation bleeding. She says don't worry but I am worried!

Hi all. I've posted on here before about my health anxiety problems. Well, 3 months ago, I noticed a bit of bleeding in the middle of my cycle when I was ovulating. I know when I'm ovulating because of the discharge (sorry TMI!) and I get crampy pains. It happened again yesterday and I also feel like crap - don't know whether it's anxiety. Probably, because I don't want to eat at mo.

Went to the doctor and she said she wasn't unduly worried because I recently had a smear test and had a womb/ovary scan last year. She's going to examine the neck of my womb for sore patches and that's it.

Of course, I'm now imagining all sorts and feel sick all the time with worry.

Doctor said this happens with some women but is relatively uncommon. I'm 42 by the way.

Please don't say anything awful coz I can't deal with it but just wondered if anyone has a similar thing. By the way, not pregnant or wanting to be and not on the pill and do not have coil fitted.

I think it's quite common, curly. In fact, I seem to remember it mentioned in the 'Taking charge of your fertility book' by Tony Weschler. It also says it is normal and maybe related to a drop in oestrogen or the rupture of the follicle at ovulation.

I get crampy pains at ovulation so you have my sympathies.

I'm in my early 40s too and often have crampy tummy through the month and crazy periods - my doctor says its natural changes.

Curly, I think it may be your age. As we approach menopause, the ovaries are not as efficient as they used to be, and breakthrough bleeding is common.

Not making a diagnosis at all Curly - I'm not a doctor BUT my best friend was diagnosed with polyps on her ovaries today after she reported slight bleeding between periods at her last smear. She also has extremely heavy periods and bad cramping. Could this be what you have? If so the good news is that she is getting them removed with key hole surgery at the end of Feb. Her gynie said this is quite common - some people dont' even notice them - that they are really nothing to worry about. He also said that some people choose to live with them but it's best to get rid of them as there is a possibility they could cause miscarriage. My bf is 35 and trying to conceive so she's opting for them out!!! Anyway, don't know if that's what you've got but a possibility? Good luck with getting to the bottom of it and hope all turns out well. x

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you all. Many thanks for your advice - I feel a bit better about it now. Plus30, interesting about the polyps on ovaries. I do have heavy periods and am feeling hormonal all over. Going through some crap at hom aswell and so am feeling quite anxious and depressed.

Thanks again for your support. I will try to stop "pants watching" every day!!
