Sequence of teeth coming through in babies -is mine a freak?

DS2, 15 months, has been doing fine with the four on the top, two on the bottom configuration for about 4 months now.

Over the last few days the drool and the fever and the howling have been heralding the emegence of whopping molars on the top and bottom. I thought the pattern was incisors bottom, then top, then bottom then canine teeth and molars after 18 months.

Shoud I start saving for the orthodontist or are all of them different?

ds cut molars at13 mo. he is only just cutting canines at20mo. I wouldn't worry too much, although the chances are that if you had to go to the orthadontist, he probably will have to too

sounds the same as ds - he did front top and bottom....top molars and now bottom molars, waiting for the middle set!

popsycal · 01/12/2004 11:42

DS started getting first set of molars around this time....

btw i cant believe the ds2 is now 15 months!

Kittypickle · 01/12/2004 11:43

Yes, same as DS (also 15 months) Big sighs of relief all round now that upper and lower molars are finally through.

We had random tooth sprouting too, WWNOGA, but not quite as random as this. Apparently it is very common for them to vary, but you might want to keep an eye on the remaining front ones having room to come through straight now molars are forming a "barrier" at the back.

DD2 got her teeth one at a time in various places (her mouth). There was no rhyme or reason for it. Bit weird after DS1 and DD1 both teethed according to the book!

Hollybaby · 01/12/2004 12:26

DD has got all her teeth in totally the wrong order, and didn't get any at all until 13 months. She did have a period where she had no middle teeth, but others round them - she had that primary school gappy look, but at just 18 months.

I thought it was usual for the canines to come after the first molars? ds1 did it canine first but I always thought that was unusual. ds2 is on 4 on the bottom, 3 on the top at the moment - very strange!

DingWongMerrilyOnHigh · 01/12/2004 12:42

thanks for all the replies.
Maybe it is canines last, I can't remember and ds1 is only 3.5.

Popsy I know, he's a great big boy child now, no longer a baby
