Just a tiny bit, looks like milk. Definitely not pregnant. What's going on?

SparklyGothKat · 30/01/2008 00:21

did you squeeze them??

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 00:22

Nope, just noticed it coming out of the shower.

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 30/01/2008 00:24

out of both or one?

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 00:27

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 30/01/2008 00:28

mmmm sure you ain't pregnant?? sorry if it had been one I would have said to see the doctor, but both??

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 00:34

Just finished AF a day or two ago (aren't you glad you asked?)

OP posts:
OverRated · 30/01/2008 00:34

how odd

Do they hurt?

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 00:40

Isn't it, OR? They're not sore at all. MN is disappointing me, felt sure by now I'd be filling up with replies along the lines of "Oh I get that all the time, it's X"

OP posts:
OverRated · 30/01/2008 00:46

Am afraid it's never happened to me. But maybe the next MNer to come along will have experienced it I might just be the odd one out.

Think maybe a trip to the GP might be an idea.

How old are your DC? Could it be left over milk? If you recently stopped breastfeeding, I mean.

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 00:50

Stopped bfing Sept last year. Do you think if I stuck dd on there I would... relactate? (Purely theoretical question; dd has formidable gnashers and a mischievious streak.)

OP posts:
OverRated · 30/01/2008 00:54

Don't know. Only one way to find out...

luvaduck · 30/01/2008 01:11

go to gp - they can test your prolactin level (blood test)and check out generally
prob fine but worth checking out!
i've seen it once with a lady who stopped bf 2 year before and everything was normal, but need to do the tests

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 01:22

Just googled prolactin and discovered I may have cancer, hypothyroidism or be taking anti-psychotic drugs. The internet is so reassuring.

OP posts:
OverRated · 30/01/2008 01:40

I was going to say Google it but didn't for exactly that reason. It is probably nothing but do get it checked out.

AussieSim · 30/01/2008 02:30

I definitely still had milk in my breasts 4-6months after quitting - don't panic yet!

AttilaTheMeerkat · 30/01/2008 07:04

This can be caused by an excess of prolactin hormone. Your level of this can be determined via a blood test. It can be treated with tablets.

Pheebe · 30/01/2008 07:53

I'm sure I've read about women who've leaked milk months and months after stopping breast feeding. maybe try posting on the bfeeding thread, you may get some more info there

luvaduck · 30/01/2008 12:28

ooo sorry just logged on hope i didn't panic you
other things (eg cancer!) unlikely if you don't have any symptoms..its probably to do with it hanging around from bf but is worth trip to gp.
if you believed everything you read on the net you'd be dying from every minor symptom so don't worry..

georgedontdothat · 30/01/2008 12:30

Mine still leak tiny ammounts now and again .
My Dd is two

rosybud · 30/01/2008 12:33

I have leaked over a year after stopping bf.

I had such a strong let down when feeding that after a long conversation with a friend about bf (a year later) i leaked!! Very bizarre.

HereComeTheGirls · 30/01/2008 14:07

I still get some milk coming out 6 months aftet stopping BF..my DD is 15 months old.

HereComeTheGirls · 30/01/2008 14:08

oops I mean 4 months after..I stopped in September!!

theshametheshame · 30/01/2008 17:06

Phew! I'm not alone!

OP posts:
Pickie · 30/01/2008 17:09

same here I only just have 'dry' boobs after finishing BF in June 06

FuriousGeorge · 31/01/2008 13:56

I get this all the time since dd1 who is 4,was born.So does my mum.I don't know what it is but my mum has had it for 40 years,so I'm not worried about it either.
