Need info asap re my Dad. Cutting long story short, he's on Risperdal and anti-depressants, 'cos he wasn't sleeping and had gone loco.Thought everything was under control (he goes off on one when he's not ok, total physcosis about anti-cancer lights, poisoned water etc . Anyway, we worked out that when he didn't take his tablets, that's when episodes occurred. Carer now in place to do brekky and give meds, am and pm. Last Wednesday me and Dh spent 3 hours saying same things over and over, soul destroying having left kids at home. He was tired but totally ok next day, absolutely fine. Saw him yesterday, fine. Carer phoned at 8am to say he's off again.

I need to know if anyone has any experience of this and I need help. He goes to a day centre and they're stumped as well. Have increased his meds in the hope that it will stop happening, not working. Any ideas and also how quickl;y can people go "downhill" as it were?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi Sticky
I don't have any experience but didn't want yout post to go unanswered. This must be a really difficult time for you and for your dad if he's lucid between 'episodes'. Have you spoken to your dads doctors? You say his meds have been increased, did his docs make that decision? It sounds to me like he needs a thorough reassessment.
thinking of you all
