Iron deficiency, joint pain & heart palpitations

I'm suffering with an onset of joint pain and heart palpitations. I've had it on and off for two months. My ferritin level a few months ago was 21, most recently in October it was 25. My doctor has said this is normal but under the NICE guidelines anything under 30 is deficient. Has anyone suffered these symptoms with low iron? I can't find an answer to what's going on. Thanks in advance.

I did. I had heart palpitations and felt faint and dizzy. Went on iron tablets with Vitc and it cleared up within a couple of weeks.

How long ago was your last covid jab ?

Yep. Nice guidelines say treatment for levels under 30 but many labs mark ferritin as ‘normal’ at 15 or 20 depending on the lab reference range.

I was initially prescribed ferrous fumerate. When they stopped it I just bought it myself. Ferritin needs to be over 70 to support hair growth. ‘Normal’ isn’t the same as optimal. I get palpitations and shortness of breath when my ferritin is low.

My ferritin was 7, the GP gave me a prescription of ferrous Fumarate, then refused to retest as apparently they don’t do that any more.

Me, on the same tablets as other have mentioned, then tests showed low vitamin b12 so on tablets for that now too
