I had a full blood count done a few weeks ago and all of the results were fine and within range. However, there was a note on the results that said ‘occasional lymphocytes and monocytes seen’, I assume this was seen from a blood smear. My GP rang me and said it indicates glandular fever and told me they would test the blood to confirm. The glandular fever test came back negative (I only found this out as I rang and reception informed me). I left it at that, although it’s been bothering me since then as there was no follow up from the GP. I’ve since spoken to the GP about an ongoing thyroid issue and mentioned the negative glandular fever test and he just said that he would include another full blood count test in my next thyroid test in December. I suffer with health anxiety so I’m winding myself up about what the results mean. Does anyone have any knowledge on what occasional lymphocytes and monocytes seen means??
