Nasal Polyps

I've had these for a long time and it's miserable. Sleep is difficult as my nose gets so blocked and my mouth is always dry. I feel like I've got a full-blown cold half the time and have no sense of smell (at all). I take Mometasone (spray) but I'm pretty sure it's giving me nasty headaches.
I saw a consultant and had scans that showed multiple polyps. He advised me I could have surgery but they might well grow back again.

Has anyone gone ahead with the op? What was your experience?

@KlimtMuse if I'm honest I don't know if I can face it. Have an appointment soon to discuss and then I'll have a think.

The reason I'd have it done is my dh is kept awake by my snoring which is because of the polyps and it seems unfair for him.

That sounds terrible! I guess it’s still been worth it though if you’re prepared to go through it again.

I must admit, the packing sounds horrible!

i had the operation to remove polyps 4 years ago & they have grown back. This condition is awful makes you feel so miserable & isolated.
always blocked up looks like it’s a condition I will always have ☹️

Oh dear @ThatRubyPombear How long did it take for them to grow back? Two years on from my initial post and I’m still pondering the op!
I’ve recently had a cold which is complete hell when you have polyps. A normal blocked nose turns into weeks of severe congestion… ugh ugh ugh!

It took 4 years for them to grow back, a year nearly to see a consultant 3 weeks ago a sinus scan now chasing up results and they don’t answer phone!!
ive been told by consultant they’ve grown back.
unless you’ve gone or are going through this it’s hard for people to understand how it ruins your everyday life.

Sorry this has happened, so disappointing. Will you do it again? I know some people have the op several times. @ThatRubyPombear

And yes, the condition does have a massive impact on everyday life. I was just thinking yesterday how people don’t really have any idea how polyps affect me. They’re the reason why I’m awake now at 5am…

Solidarity!
