Your referall is being reviewed? What does this mean?

So I recieved a 2ww on a referall letter from gp for a gi ras however on the top it says referall is being reviewed? Does this mean that a proper consultant hasn’t seen my husbands case yet so it might not end up being urgent? I’m just trying to reassure myself as Google has done the opposite lol thank you

I think it just means they are considering all the info the GP has given them and trying to decide what to do recommend next. The next step is usually a consultation with a specialist. However could be a scan, request for blood tests etc

It needs to be triaged so they can decide whether a consultation or tests/scans are the most appropriate first step

I think it means eligibility, that their service is the right sort for the type of patient & symptoms described. I don't think it's consultants at that point, it's someone more junior who looks at the referral.
