my husband had a stool sample checked due to me pestering him into having a full health check as he is 35 and I just thought it would be good to get checked. He had no rectal bleeding or symptoms so I am gobsmacked. He has a referall for a two week wait for the above I’ve googled it and the obvious cancer comes up for those urgent referalls. Has anyone had similar and it turned out to be not cancer? I’m 5 months pregnant and I was not expecting this at all as it was a routine check up and now this.

thank you 😔

did he have a fit test? It detects blood in stool but that could be from piles or inflammation in the gut.

Who is doing a fit test on a 35 year old with no symptoms? That’s not part of any standard health check.

But seeing as it’s been done, a positive test gets investigated but only 3% or thereabouts of 2ww end up with a cancer diagnosis, so high likelihood is that everything is ok.

I paid for him to have a fit test as why not? There are cases of people under 40 getting cancers etc so wanted him to have a fit test and thank goodness that I did. I wish more people would do the same it could save a lot of lives.

He did a stool sample on the gp request and got the referral sent through out the blue

Fair enough just thought maybe there was some NHS healtcheck that I may have missed in my mid 30’s. Hope all is ok with your husband. As I said above, likelihood is that it will be.

Thank you I appreciate it
