Dry, chapped, red face, what can I use on DS?

DS is 8.5 mo and has dry chapped skin on his chin, above his mouth and his cheeks. I don't know what's caused it, only thought is he has recently started sleeping more on his front, could be from rubbing his face on his sheet or something?

Any more ideas what's causing it and also what can I put on it to make him more comfortable, he doesn't seem very happy about it

vaseline or the like.

It's maybe been caused by him dribbling in his sleep and the dribble sitting on his skin.

Dribbling bit sounds likely!

Will try him with some vaseline, thanks Squonk

Aveeno cream is fantastic for any skin irritations

Kamillosan nipple cream did the trick for ds when he got this as a baby! It was to hand...
Dribble plus cold outside and central heating inside.

My ds is exactly the same age and also suffering with this. I'm fairly sure its a combination of dribble and cold weather. Vaseline seems to be working for him. Although getting it on under his double chin is fun!

ooh thanks for other responses. DS is ff so no nipple cream lying around....

A delve in my make-up case has revealed a 'lip therapy' little tin of vaseline so we've gone with that, see if it does the trick. He found it highly amusing me smearing it all over his face!
