What could be the matter with my hip?

About 4 weeks ago I got a sudden pain at the top of my pelvic bone above my hip. Kind of along the top of the pelvis where the waistband of low cut jeans would fall. Where the pelvis feels highest, and continuing a bit in front.

It feels really sore, comes and goes, makes me wince if I get up after sitting down for a long time.

Is it muscular? Arthritis?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Do you mean in your back? Or the front side? I get occasional hip pain in my back area and I had an MRI last year which shows wear and tear of my joints..I'm only 37. Sometimes the sudden onset of pain comes due to inflammation in a joint so I have to take to it easy and rest, ibuprofen or other painkillers and a heating pad helps a lot. It normally gets better after 2ish weeks but I'm always quite sore and creaky in the mornings. Physio and yoga are meant to help though

Bursitis. I have it.

It’s on my side.

Yes, looks as if it could well be bursitis.

Bursitis. I have it.

Have you had it for long? Are you recovering? (I hope you are)

I had a pain in the aide of my hip for about a year, it got better with physio exercises I found online and finally went when I had covid and wasn't using it. I think my shoes didn't help. I recommend going for a trainer assessment at a running shop even if they are for day to day walking around.

I've had it for years, and there are stretches that I do which help, but it's never totally gone.

I see you might have found a possible answer but I find when my vit d is low I get really bad hip pains. It only takes a week before I see a difference. Worth trying?
