Horrible headache and pain around eyes

For the last few days I've had a consistent awful headache all over and pain and pressure behind my eyes, been going to sleep and waking up with it. I do also have a bad cold and can feel it in the back of my throat, could this be sinus? Paracetamol alone isn't budging it but dr google is really worrying me that this is something more sinister

I regularly have headaches like these. I've always put it down to hormones as they stopped when I was pregnant. Aspirin takes the edge off for me. Paracetamol or any migraine type painkillers never work.

WitchyMother · 24/10/2022 10:04

I had this with Covid.

Forfukzsake · 24/10/2022 10:05

Sounds like the Coronavirus I just had.

SingingSands · 24/10/2022 10:06

I had this with covid last year - you have my sympathy, it was horrible.

BIWI · 24/10/2022 10:06

Does the pressure/pain get worse if you bend over/down?

Sounds like it could be sinusitis. Try taking something like Sinutab and see if that helps.

I’ve got covid atm and have this. Ice flannels on my head are doing way more for me than paracetamol, you could try that.

Thanks for the reply everyone, I also had omicron this time last year and the headaches definitely do feel the same however I have took a covid test this morning and very clear negative, my mum also said it sounds like sinus so I may try that!

Doesn't change when bending over or laying down :(

Had this after covid and it was a sinus infection that needed antibiotics.

Hmmm ok would it be worth contacting 111? I'm currently on holiday

I used decongestants and painkillers at first. It was only when I could smell and taste it that I called the gp. It was minging!

Thank you, I picked up some decongestant tablets but not really noticing a difference, ears keep popping too! So strange, headache is horrific haven't had anything like it since covid

Hi everyone, just an update I did end up calling my doctor because the pain in my face and head is so intense, they've said likely viral sinus as I do not have a temperature or a runny nose but do have post nasal drip, so they have prescribed a nasal spray and said I should start to feel better within a few days, hopefully!

Feel better soon 😊

DH had a very severe headache at the weekend. He was in tears with the ain ( very unlike him). He recently suffered a stroke so I was very concerned however he had none of the symptoms assoc with a stroke. I googled and discovered the latest version of Covid frequently presents with a severe headache that doesn’t respond to paracetamol but ibuprofen often works. I gave him a big dose of ibuprofen and it eased eventually.
Anyway I had my Covid and flu vaccs on Saturday, was fine for 48hrs but by Monday was feeling rough. I tested DH and myself both of us were positive for Covid.
DS, who had a cough last week was negative but likely to be the source. Although working in healthcare, it could well be me.
Its our third infection and very mild. DH mainly headache, I’ve been more muscle aches.
I would have gone into work if I hadn’t tested as I would have put it down to the vaccs at the weekend. We no longer test for work but we still have LFTs to check if we have symptoms. I don’t really want to start a mini outbreak! Although we were masks to work in ( have done for the last 15yrs) they do not really prevent spread.

Thanks, I don't have covid though lateral flow are negative, just have pain in my face, stiff neck and terrible headaches, had for about 5 days now. Hopefully it clears up soon
