Beta blockers now low pulse / blood pressure

I’ve started on propranolol for migraine today. My blood pressure is always on the low side. It was always around 110/64 and pulse 62 before I started them and I was going ligtheaded sometimes at that.
Now it has dropped to 100/59 pulse 51 which is out of range.
I can phone the doctor for advice tomorrow but just wondered if anyone else has had the same and it’s improved or does this mean they aren’t likely to be right for me ?
really wanted them to work ! Slightly worried I could have a heart attack or something 😳 yes I am a worrier !

You wont have a heart attack, but you might get dizzy and faint. It sounds like you need to try a different beta blocker, there are loads of options and they all impact different people slightly differently. You could also take a smaller dose, or take it before bed etc etc. Call the doctor and get them to try another option, but dont panic in the meantime (but maybe dont drive a car)

I’ve always been a low BP person too. I’m on 5mgs bisoprolol per day and it agrees with me. They tried switching my beta blocker to propranolol and it absolutely messed with my pulse rate. It disagreed with me and I felt very unwell on it. Never ever had a problem with bisoprolol in the two years I’ve taken it. Though I am a cardiac patient and bisoprolol works well for ‘just heart’ stuff. Talk to your consultant or GP about changing beta blockers and/or lowering your dose. Propranolol can be a little rough with the side effects.

I’ve just stopped taking propranolol for migraine my resting heart rate was 48-55 and I felt drained. I put up with it because it really helped my migraines but then I developed beta-blocker induced psoriasis so I had to stop. It wasn’t actually until I stopped I realised how little energy I had while on them. I’ve been on them over a year.

I've just started taking amitriptyline now instead. I feel loads better and I’m sleeping better too.

I had to come off propranolol for migraines for the same reason. I have low bp normally (90/70) and on the propanol it was lower still and my heart rate was in the 40s. I felt ridiculously weak.

I have had to come off of Atenolol as my pulse rate was low 40's and i felt dreadful and breathless climbing stairs.
