Is this viral or bacterial throat infection?

32 weeks pregnant and Sunday I had a scratchy sore throat. Went away but since yesterday afternoon it has come back with a vengeance. It feels like I'm swallowing shards of glass and like I've been punched at the back of it . Lots of relief when eating food or drinking.

I can't see any white on my tonsils. No temp when I last checked. No swollen glands. The back of my throat looks quite red. Do I need to call the doctor? Had strep throat this exact time last year and felt the same. My toddler has had a cough but can't check her throat (making it impossible every time I try)

Advice appreciated xx

I wouldn't phone the doctor.
Get some of that antiseptic throat spray if it's ok to use in pregnancy (not sure if it is) and use it as an excuse to eat loads of ice cream.

I had this and caught it from DS (3). Also pregnant and it lasted a few days!

Go to the doctor and at least get strep ruled out. Strep needs to get treated.

Your throat would be red and swollen if you had strep and you'd likely have a fever. If you can eat and drink then you don't need to do anything. If it isn't better in a day or 2, then see GP. Sore throat can be treated at home
