Feel horrendous. I was okay with my ME recently and it was at the milder end of moderate. Terrified this is going to set me back. Anyone here have experience of catching covid with pre-existing ME/CFS? Looking for reassurance...

Yea I’ve got ME and had covid twice. In the week or two after having it I was more fatigued but after that it wore off, it hasn’t made a difference in general to ny fatigue levels

My specialist said many of their ME patients actually do better than family members who get covid at the same time, because the ME patients know how to look after themselves. So just be good, rest rest and more rest and do your relaxation/meditation and you will likely get back to 'normal' (for you).

I got Covid from DH and definitely didn't suffer as badly as he did, probably because I started resting when he tested positive (3 days before I did) and didn't really do anything much beyond drinking tea and watching TV until I tested negative on day 11. It was actually nice being able to cancel everything and just focus on resting, I had hardly any symptoms beyond my usual ME symptoms (and I'm used to those).

Thanks all. That's reassuring. I'm resting very aggressively - not much choice as I feel absolutely awful and totally wiped out. Just concerned because the covid infection itself is quite bad and the accompanying fatigue feels like when I first became ill with ME. But hopefully this is just the acute phase of the virus and will pass...

I had Covid in June and was poorly for about 5 days.
My fatigue noticeably increased for about 3 weeks and I did stick to bed rest as much as possible but got back to baseline after about 5 weeks.

Rest as much as you can and strictly pace yourself as you start to feel better.

I hope you recover soon.
