Merina coil- how long did it take to settle for you?

I’ve had my coil for 7 weeks ish and I’ve been bleeding the entire time since then, apart from 4 days. I know people say give it time to settle, but it’s getting very wearing, and I suppose I’d just like to know if other people have had the same experience?! Is this normal?

Oh god I was the same. I hated it to start with. Probably took a good 6 months to get back into a regular cycle, but instead of 28/29 days, my cycles are now 26/27 days. And instead of 4-5 days of solid, uncomfortable periods, they’re incredibly light but last 5-8 days. So light I only need a panty liner a couple of days, but still enough that I know I’m bleeding and still worry that I’ll have a heavy gush. I’m approaching a year and I don’t think I’ll replace it when the 5 years are up.

Months! I wanted it removed but they gynae persuaded me to persevere.

She was right, once it settled, I haven’t looked back and am now on my 2nd which didn’t need settling in time. I use it to supplement hrt now & it’s such an easy way to do it.

I spotted for nearly 7 months, now I just have a light period. An unexpected positive was that it massively helped my PMT.
Stick with it !

Oh blimey, so it could be a while longer before it settles by the sounds of it! I have to say I’m regretting it so far…..

I gave up after 6 weeks with it. The bleeding was awful but I could feel the coil constantly too. Like a permanent internal scratching feeling. I hated it. But my sister had one at a similar time and she loves hers, bleeding settled down after a few weeks and she's never looked back. I think it's total luck of the draw!
