Wtf has happened to my hand

I've tried to add pictures but it's not working. Today my right hand has been really painful so I guessed maybe I slept on it funny. I've just noticed quite a swelling at the base between second and middle fingers. I can still move it, it's just painful to do so. What can I do to help it?

(I know a lot of my posts are similar with injuries etc, but I am so clumsy, I also today realised that the bruising on my arm is from walking into a door handle every time I walk into a certain room!)

I think I managed to add picture of said swollen hand. I have no idea why I can't add pictures properly

Does it look red or feel hot to touch, which might suggest an infection? Is there any bruising? It does seem a bit unlikely that you would have injured it and caused it to swell like that without realising. Could you have been bitten by something?

Not red or hot to touch, no sign of a bite, it's so odd.

No bruising either. I actually had a photo frame fall on my other hand from a height, and that hand is fine with just a small scratch.

It could be repetitive strain injury or autoimmune related. I had a really sore swollen index finger a few years ago, hadn’t injured it but honestly it was so painful I wanted to cut it off at one point during a night of broken sleep.

Dr gave me Naproxen which helped a lot. Was tested for rheumatoid arthritis, bloods came back fine so attributed to a strain injury. If it doesn’t get better soon I’d make a GP appt.
