Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good provider for a general blood test and check up?

I am guessing BUPA…?

I rang my GP practice yesterday expecting, at the age of 58 and never having had a Well Woman health check, that I would automatically be eligible. However, I now need to book a telephone appointment with the GP to discuss it with them.

I feel really fit and well and have no worries, I just thought it would be a good idea (we never know what’s happening inside!)

I just feel like I am wasting the GP’s time now…so probably won’t bother..

@CrCrispsnDips The way they do it in our surgery (at least it was when I last had one 6 years ago) is you have an appointment with the nurse who takes an arm full of blood for various tests then you make a further appointment 3 weeks later to discuss the results with the nurse - who also checks weight, height, blood pressure and asks a load of lifestyle questions. You would only see a GP if this all threw up and issues. Seems sensible to me.
They don't seem to invite you for the check up though - I got collared by a nurse who was giving me a flu jab and called up my records on the screen and noticed I'd never had a health check.
