Child trapped thumb in car door

DS 5 jammed his thumb in the car door yesterday. It's sore but he can bend it and move it although he says it hurts but not in bearable or enough to have him crying.
Would you get it checked out? It's red and swollen today obviously but I am worried it may be broken?
The yellowtail bit is where the skin scrapped back and we've put savalon on and it's crystallised where the matter is weeping.

Poor thing, looks painful. I'd ring 111 and see if they can get an appt at minor injuries. Will need an X-ray I think.

GobbolinoTheWitchesCat · 02/10/2022 13:34

Yes I'd seek an xray

PeppermintPatty10 · 02/10/2022 13:41

Ow! Yes he needs an X-ray! If the bone is damaged it might need to be set in the right place, so that it heals properly.

Notaboutthebass · 02/10/2022 13:55

That needs seeing to.

spanieleyes · 02/10/2022 13:58

I have a bent finger from when I trapped it in the car door😥 I would definitely get it checked out- mind you, for some reason when I went to hospital, they x rayed my elbow by mistake!

MabelMoo23 · 02/10/2022 13:58

You definitely need an x ray for that so they can check the growth plates are ok.

poor little mite, hope he’s ok

AtrociousCircumstance · 02/10/2022 14:10

X ray, definitely.

Beamur · 02/10/2022 14:12

Yep. I would get it checked. If the bone is damaged it's much easier to fix before it starts to heal.

greenbananas29 · 02/10/2022 16:06

Thank you everyone we are at the hospital now waiting for an x Ray

How did you get on op

greenbananas29 · 02/10/2022 21:38

The x Ray confirmed a fracture in the thumb so I'm glad we went and got it checked! Thank you all for your advice ☺️
