Can someone help me interpret these hba1c results please. I've got risk factors for type 2 diabetes so paid for a private blood test.

The result was 37.98. The reference range was 20 to 40.

I had a follow up test but with a different company. They've expressed the result as a percentage. The result was 5.72% with a reference range of 4.80 to 5.90.

Can anyone tell me which result is better please? I've been doing some fasting and massively reduced my sugar intake so I want to know of it's making a difference.

Here’s a website with easy conversion between mmol (I am assuming these are the units used in the first) and percentage: www.diabetes.co.uk/hba1c-units-converter.html

They are pretty much the same. The first one is 5.6.

Both are in the healthy range (prediabetic starts at 42) though if you’re at higher risk I’d recommend reducing carbs, not just sugar.
