Costochondritis (wastebasket diagnosis)

Does anyone know what else costochondritis could be misdiagnosed for?

Mine started in September 2021 and the pain in the warmer months subsided.

Anyway, it's back and hurts like fuck. I cannot sleep, I find it difficult to walk and it's so painful I can't raise my arms. Everything hurts. I don't have a cough and I haven't had covid yet.

Anyway due to having doctors for friends, I've just found out that costochondritis isn't considered a real health problem and this wiki page confirms it.

WIKIPEDIA wastebasket diagnosis

So without annoying my friends, has anyone had similar symptoms and been diagnosed with something else? I'm intrigued 😊

I want to see my GP as I want to be better and pain free. But I also don't want to waste his time!

(It's definitely not my heart!)

Costochondritis is a real condition. It’s inflammation of the constochondral joint, and it can reoccur.

With regards to the Wikipedia article you’ve linked to - if you look on the citation for Costochondritis, it literally says that it is a real condition.

I've had it and hit hurts. As PP said it's inflammation of the muscles.

I was told ibuprofen could help (but I can't take it).

I had this on and off for a couple of years, no recurrence in the last year or so (yet!). Physio really helped me, it took a few sessions, but each one had an appreciable decrease in pain. I had to pay for it privately though
