i have feeling it may be this sickness bug? she was sick throughout the night and still trying when the poor mite had nothing there.

her nappy is so runny and smells really awful

i have nt given her any more milk since she brought whole lot up at 7am and have been giving her lots of water

she really must feel terrible but yet shes still smiling

she is bringing up some water but not all of it and has now fallen asleep on me so will let her doze then prob take her docs this pm

has anyone else's lo got this? am i doing right giving her wayer instead of milk? she keeps it down better than milk and im worried she'll de-hydrate?

her nappy has not really been wet????

Is she ff or bf?

fishie · 24/01/2008 10:54

formula or breastmilk missy? sounds like a bug, yes go to doctor.

largeginandtonic · 24/01/2008 10:55

How old is she?

Watered down formula is ok if this persists. Take her to the doc and they may prescribe some baby form of dioralyte. Kids are reiliant and i'm sure she will be ok. If she is still smiling then that is a good sign

Dont worry, hopefully it wont last long.

notnowbernard · 24/01/2008 10:55

I would call dr first, tbh... you might not need to take her down.

PeatBog · 24/01/2008 10:55

Yes, you are right to keep her hydrated with water. Could you call your doc and ask for a call back, rather than have to take her in?

largeginandtonic · 24/01/2008 10:56

Resilient doh!

JustMissyNow · 24/01/2008 10:59

she will be 5 months on 6th

ffed

shes a really happy baby so although shes so pale and lost her little tum she still smiles!

If ff I think the advice is water (might advise Dioralyte as well)

No milk (I think)

If she's struggling to keep the water down, give her a flannel/sponge to suck, or use a medicine syringe to put a few drops in at a time

Hope she gets better soon

(I would give the doc a ring for pro advice as well, though )

thanks will do

DS had a similar bug when he was 4 months old. I was told if bf to continue but if ff then to stop giving milk and only give water with dioralyte in. Keep giving it little and often to avoid upsetting the tummy and bringing it back up. I remember sitting up all night giving 5mls of water in a syringe every 30 mins until he eventually looked well enough to try with a small bit of milk.

Hope she is better soon

JustMissyNow · 24/01/2008 14:24

thankyou

she managed to keep watered down milf of 5oz earlier so hopefully she will do same with next lot

NHS Direct are a real help with this sort of thing, ime. I'd also say water rather than milk for the minute, but would check with someone more qualified
